Explorers to Continue Conference Play at Home with George Washington, Davidson - La Salle University Athletics

PHILADELPHIA – With their first conference victory under their belts, La Salle women's lacrosse will stay at home for the second-consecutive weekend when they host Atlantic 10 rivals George Washington and Davidson.
 
Opening draw with Colonials is set for Friday, April 1 at 1 p.m. and for 12 p.m. on Sunday, April 3 against the Wildcats.
 
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • La Salle began their Atlantic 10 conference slate this past weekend, falling to No. 17 Richmond 14-8 in their conference opener before rallying to beat VCU 12-11.
  • The win over the Rams improved La Salle to 5-0 over VCU, and leveled their conference record at 1-1.
  • Maddie Henderson and Claudia Steinmetz led the charge for La Salle, each scoring five goals across the two contests.
  • Fifth-year senior Emily Johnston added four goals and two assists, as well as eight draw controls, four ground balls, and three caused turnovers.
  • This season, Johnston leads her team in goals (26), assists (tied, 5), draw controls (38), caused turnovers (tied, 15), and ground balls (23) through 10 games.
  • The La Salle offense is averaging 8.70 goals per game in 2022, and 10.0 per contest in conference games after scoring 20 against Richmond and VCU.
  • The Explorers have averaged 25.4 shots per game, while allowing 28.8 shots against through 10 games.
  • Defenders Liza Dellaratta, Jess Hewitt, Julianna Harden, and Shannin Cato have helped anchor the Explorer defense that has caused 81 turnovers and collected 177 ground balls this season.
  • Kelli McGroarty and Julia Dellaratta have shared time in goal for the Explorers, combining for 100 saves with a save percentage of .455.
  • Kiki Venza, Tori Rolon, and Maddie Dachowski join Henderson, Steinmetz, and Johnston with double-digit point totals for the balanced La Salle offense.
 
SCOUTING THE COLONIALS:
  • George Washington enters the weekend with a record of 2-8, including 0-2 in A-10 conference play.
  • The Colonials dropped their conference opener 10-15 on the road at Davidson before falling to No. 17 Richmond at home, 7-12.
  • George Washington is led by four double-digit point scorers in Kendall Lambert (13), Tori Hampton (12), Emily Mowbray (11), and Katelyn Walker (10).
  • In goal, both Megan Patrick and Mia Caro have both made starts for the Colonials, with Patrick leading with eight starts while making 99 saves.
 
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS:
  • Davidson enters the weekend with a record of 8-1, with their lone setback coming to No. 8 Dule on the road.
  • The Wildcats started conference play with a pair of victories over George Washington and George Mason.
  • The high-powered Davidson offense has averaged 14.00 goals per game on 30.0 shots per game.
  • Erin Cooke leads her squad with 20 goals and 21 assists in nine games. She is joined by two other Wildcats with at least 20 goals with Grace Fahey (27) and Gianna New (23).
  • Julianne Carey leads the team in draw controls with 38 despite appearing in just six games, while Amanda Monahan has secured 21 ground balls.
  • Monahan has made eight of the nine starts in goal for Davidson with 73 saves while conceding just 80 goals.
